In Nguru, in the Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, this little girl suffered a devastating hot water burn that severely damaged one of her hands. The injury was so severe that it left bone exposed and made it almost impossible for her to use the hand for the ordinary business of being a child. Holding a pencil. Playing with friends. Doing the small, everyday things that seven-year-olds are supposed to take entirely for granted. The wound has reached far past her skin. It has reached into her education, her confidence, her childhood, and her sense of what her life can be.

Ugoevo Care Foundation found her, and we could not look away.

We came across Amarachi during one of our humanitarian outreaches, and the moment we understood her situation, we took up her case as an emergency medical intervention. Understanding the urgency, the Foundation has engaged a qualified surgeon at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri, who is now overseeing further evaluation and preparing for the procedure itself.

Somewhere in Nkwogwu, in the Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, two brilliant twin brothers were quietly running out of time.

But because their parents, through no fault of their own, could not find the money for school fees, and in a system with little mercy for the poor, that single shortfall was enough to end two promising educations before they had truly begun. Two sharp young minds stood at the edge of being switched off, not by any failure of theirs, but by the accident of the household they were born into.

Ugoevo Care Foundation refused to let that happen.

We hold to a conviction that shapes this entire initiative: education is a right, not a privilege, and no child should lose the chance to learn simply because poverty reached them first. So we launched the Ugoevo Scholarship Initiative, an ongoing programme built to give brilliant but indigent children uninterrupted access to quality education and a safe place in which to learn. And when we found these twins, we did not hesitate.

Before adopting the boys into the programme, we carried out a full home assessment and sat down with their family for honest interviews, confirming beyond doubt the financial vulnerability that threatened their future. Their school has now officially accepted to enrol them, and the Foundation has formally taken responsibility for their educational journey. These are no longer two boys hoping someone might notice.
